Thanks to the efforts of John Kimpton and Simon Denvers there are now lots of images on this site - see photo section - showing all the refurbishments taking place at Glossop Station as at the end of February. The Canopy has now been completely repainted in tradtional colours of cream. red and green. It has never looked so good! The railings on the platform side have also been finished and they look splendid! Our thanks to Tighes - the Painters working with Story Rail. They have had to contend with some extremely difficult winter weather in the completion of these tasks. Karen, from Network Rail, advises that further work on the Canopy and the platform will commence at the beginning of March and is scheduled for completion at the end of the month. The Hanging Baskets and tubs, currently in store will then be returned to their original positions. The much awaited tannoy is partly installed and should be operational shortly. Bunty and Neil visited Country Baskets in Wakefield recently and new flower material was purchased for the Spring replenishment of the indoor containers. Recent milder weather has brought out daffodils for the first time ever on the Embankment -following its summer makeover!! - and in the new Winter Hanging Baskets at the entrance to the station. Spring is on its way!!
