The Christmas period went well at Glossop following our happy Santa event on 8th December. The decorations were well received and added a splash of festive cheer to a very wet Christmas season in Glossop. If you are seeking some photos of the Santa event then get in touch and John will help supply these! Photos have also appeared in the Glossop Chronicle and Glossop Advertiser. There is also an article in the 3rd January edition of the Chronicle about the recent Highly Commended given to Glossop station by the Railway Heritage Trust. Unfortunately the caption relating to Ian Bevan, Managing Director of Northern, is incorrect in the accompanying photo.
The decorations were taken down in record time on Saturday 5th by Eric, John LeG, John K, Neil, Bunty, Eve and Jacqueline. Many hands made light work!! The winter baskets have been restored to the front of the station after a Christmas holiday at Neil's!
We were delighted that Friends of Heaton Chapel paid a visit to the station on the 20th December. They were very complimentary about what they saw and they have put a range of photos taken on the day plus a commentary on their website. We thank them for their kind comments!
On Monday 14th December Northern are holding a Meet the Director session at Glossop station between 16.00 and 18.00. The face on the promotional poster is Adrian Thompson Head of Human Resources. Theo has said that others may accompany him. We intend offering some refreshments to our visitors. Do call by if you want to meet Northern's Management.
We thank Paul for his inclusion on the website of up to date material relating to the 2013 Winter Folk trains, the Trans Peak walks and the availability of the Derbyshire Wayfarer tickets from The Curly Cornet Cafe, Henry Street,Glossop. Please buy your tickets here if possible!!
